After a national search, Elizabeth Kyle Meehan, MD, assistant professor, has been appointed program director for the Family Medicine Residency at South Campus at the University of Arizona Department of Family and Community Medicine.
Dr. Meehan will lead and direct the residency program, as well as conduct clinical care, teach residents and pursue scholarly activity. In addition, she will be responsible for establishing a positive learning environment at the program's teaching sites.
“Dr. Meehan clearly demonstrates the leadership, vision and passion for family medicine resident education needed for this position,” said Myra Muramoto, MD, MPH, professor and chair, UA Department of Family and Community Medicine. “We are delighted that she will be leading our South Campus residency program.”
Prior to accepting the role as program director of the South Campus residency, Dr. Meehan served as the interim program director for the 2018-2019 academic year.
In addition to leading the residency program, Dr. Meehan will continue to practice all aspects of family medicine, which includes outpatient, inpatient, labor and delivery and pediatric care on the maternal child health service at Banner – University Medical Center Tucson and South hospitals, and Banner – University Medicine Family Medicine Clinic at South Campus. She also serves as the medical site director for the Mobile Health Program’s prenatal clinic for the South Campus residency.
Dr. Meehan is board certified in family medicine and fellowship-trained in integrative medicine though the UA Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine.
