Tanya Williams

Career Story:

After graduating from residency, I took a locums job in New Zealand for 6 months working with a Maori community in the northern part of the north island. Upon returning in 2006, I moved to San Francisco and took a job with a community clinic in Berkeley. The clinic has a large uninsured population serving immigrants from around the world. My practice encompasses children and adults.

Notable Personal Accomplishments:

In the past two years I have visited 4 continents to some very remote parts of the world

Notable Professional Accomplishments:

MPH, which I have yet to use.

Favorite Recreational Activity:

Hiking and travel

Favorite Memory from Residency:

I will never forget my experience of working with disaster victims in Sri Lanka following the tsunami. The two months I spent there was life changing and will be with me forever. The residency and residents were so supportive of all of my unconventional training experiences and I will be forever grateful for that.

Personal Story:

I will be moving to Salt Lake City this fall to be with my partner who will be teaching at the University of Utah in conservation biology. I don't have a position there yet, so if anyone has contacts in Utah I would welcome any information.
