Why did you choose South Campus FM residency? I chose this residency program because it had an ideal combination of strong full spectrum clinical training and a focus on social justice. It was evident to me how passionate the faculty, residents, and other staff were about community engagement and enacting systemic change to improve healthcare and all the outside factors that influence a person’s health. I knew from my interview day that this program would provide me unparalleled Family Medicine training as well as inspiring faculty mentors and wonderful co-residents.

What do you love most about Tucson? That is a tie between the beautiful mountains everywhere you look and how nice everyone you meet here is all the time!

Tell us about your family (including pets!) I got married to my husband, Ryan, one week before starting residency. He works remotely as a software engineer from a company based in Portland. We adopted a dachshund-beagle mix, Duncan, two weeks after that from a local shelter.

Tell us some fun facts about yourself:
1: Prior to medical school, I was a Teach for America corps member and taught high school science in Houston, Texas.
2: I’m a huge San Antonio Spurs fan and my dog, Duncan, is named after Tim Duncan.
3: In high school, I was a clown in our musical production of “Barnum". Yes, there are pictures.
