Refugee Health Family Medicine Resident Longitudinal Curriculum

Aims to equip future family physicians with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively care for refugee patients.  

Topics are covered in orientation, core blocks and during didactic days and include:

  • PTSD in refugee patients
  • Mental health Concerns in Refugee Patients
  • Latent and active T
  • Filling out the form N 648 for citizenship exam exemption
  • And others depending on current needs

During Refugee Clinics

A refugee health related pearl is done at the start of each clinic on a variety of topics (both health related and political). Some of these topics are preventative care in refugee patients, Giardia in refugee patients, schistosomiasis, current conflicts in Sudan, current conflicts in the middle east, how to assess for SOT, etc.
