Brigitte Weil, DO

Academic / Professional Bio:

Where are you from?

I’m from Iowa originally, but lived in Colorado for 8 years prior to moving to Tucson

Why did you choose UA Family Medicine?

I am really passionate about global health and helping underserved populations, and this program had everything I wanted, with the Global Health Track, Spanish Language/Healthcare Disparities Track, Integrative Medicine, Refugee Health, and more. I’m excited to work with faculty and residents who are excited about all the same things and who are committed to providing excellent patient care to diverse populations. I was really drawn to how kind and friendly everyone was during my interview, and the 2+2 curriculum as well.

What are you most excited about for life in Tucson?

Having lived in colder climates my entire life, I am really excited about the beautiful (and warm) winters with no snow! I love Tucson and am excited for the endless options for great good, especially the Mexican food. Both Tucson and Arizona in general have tons of natural beauty that I can’t wait to explore!

What are your interests or hobbies outside of Medicine?

Traveling, reading, cooking, baking, gardening, watching sports (basketball, football, and hockey mostly), yoga, swimming, hiking

What are your professional interests within Medicine?

Global Health, Sports Medicine, Underserved Populations, Addiction Medicine

Favorite way to spend a day off?

Doing something active in the morning (preferably outdoors), having some time to myself in the afternoon to relax and unwind, and spending the evening with family and/or friends having a nice meal, then something chill like playing a game or watching a movie after

Top item on your "Bucket list"?

At least the top 5 things are travel destinations, so I would say: travel! Some of the top destinations that I want to get to are Japan, Thailand, Kenya, New Zealand, and Costa Rica.
