ArtWorks `Through Our Eyes: Our Arizona-Sonoran Desert’ Opening Reception

The exhibit will display Arizona-Sonoran Desert-inspired paintings from artists at UA ArtWorks, marking the first art exhibit to take place at the UA Campus Recreation Center’s REC Oasis Lounge & Art Gallery.

The University of Arizona Campus Recreation Center has invited 26 UA ArtWorks artists to exhibit, “Through Our Eyes: Our Arizona-Sonoran Desert” at its newly opened REC Oasis Lounge & Art Gallery at 1400 E. Sixth St. Its first show, the opening reception is scheduled Friday, Dec. 7, 3 to 7 p.m.

ArtWorks is an outreach program within the UA Sonoran Center for Excellence in Disabilities at the UA Department of Family and Community Medicine. ArtWorks promotes community and mutual learning through creative and expressive arts interactions between adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and UA students.

A short presentation will take place from 4-4:30 p.m., with welcome remarks from Campus Rec and ArtWorks’ representatives. In addition, several ArtWorks artists will discuss the art-making process.

The opening reception is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
