While all residents obtain training and skills in community health through core curriculum and experiences, our community medicine track allows residents to take a deeper dive into developing skills in delivery of healthcare to communities with fewer resources, optimizing patient care and health with community resources, and integrating comprehensive knowledge of the social determinants of health (SDOH) and promotion of health equity into the care of our patients. The primary experience for community medicine track residents will be rotating in the Mobile Health Family Medicine Clinic and providing continuity family medicine care through the Mobile Health Program. Additional educational opportunities as part of that clinic experience and residents include developing a scholarly project in community medicine. As part of the community medicine experience, all residents will rotate through the Mobile Health Family Medicine Clinic, however community medicine track residents will spend additional days, at least once per month, providing care within the clinic.
Preceptors for the Mobile Health Family Medicine clinics are Nicole Person-Rennell, MD, MPH, FAAFP, assistant professor, and Francisco Gomez, MD, clinical assistant professor.
