Comments from Students:

"Great residents and faculty at the Alvernon clinic. High diversity of patients and problems. The clinic is very organized with a fantastic staff. Patients are treated with care and respect. I personally appreciated having the opportunity to work with UofA faculty. Residents and faculty put in a lot of effort to teach students."

"The people-the attendings and residents were extremely welcoming, nice, and excited to teach students."

“The attendings and residents at FPO are fantastic, a wonderful experience.”

“It is a great opportunity to be exposed to multiple styles of patient care.”

“I was able to see a lot of women's health, which was great.”

“I enjoyed working with several different doctors and therefore experiencing several different styles. Everyone was very welcoming and facilitated my learning.”

“There is a broad array of patients, great support staff and great teaching from faculty and residents. The best aspect of the site was tying all my knowledge together, and thinking on my feet.”

“The variety of patients was particularly favorable. I was allowed to express my ideas, suggestions and decisions regularly. The attendings and residents treat me very kindly and provided encouragement throughout the rotation. I enjoyed working with different people on any given day because it allowed me to observe different styles, which I can incorporate into my own way of practicing in the future.”

Comments from Faculty:

"Our site gives students the opportunity to work with residents and attendings. We see a wide variety of the socioeconomic spectrum at our clinic. The FCM Department has Fellows in Geriatrics, Sports Medicine and Complementary and Alternative Medicine working in the clinic. Procedural opportunities include toenail removal, skin excisions, joint aspiration/injections, colposcopy and microscopy. There are also opportunities for home visits and exposure to acupuncture."
