From Boston and Philadelphia to Chicago and Los Angeles, our nation’s flagship public hospitals are disappearing in a sea of apathy and red ink. The dramatic impact of these closings upon the poor and medically underserved has raised a series of troubling questions: Is this trend irreversible? Are these hospitals worth saving? If so, are there models of success we can look to for guidance and inspiration?
This lecture will seek to chart a positive future for America’s vital public safety net hospitals, using examples that appear to be working well in the 21st Century.
