Why did you choose South Campus FM residency?
I chose South Campus because it provided the best blend of academic and community medicine along with such amazing rural opportunities. Our main site is at a community hospital on Tucson’s south side and gives us access to their grossly underserved patient population. The rural rotations are already built into our curriculum which makes it easy to see and explore the beautiful state of Arizona. And last but not least, I chose South Campus because of the people; everyone here is particularly dedicated to rural and global health with a focus on the underserved!
What do you love most about Tucson?
I love the southwest and grew up here! I also love that you’re basically in rural Arizona as soon as you’re out of city limits. The food is great too!
Tell us about your family (including pets!)
My parents and older sister all live in Arizona. My parents live in Douglas, a small rural town a couple hours south of Tucson and one of our rural rotation sites! Our family dog is a little poodle named Dim Sum and he loves Tucson :)
Tell us some fun facts about you!
1: Family medicine is a family business! My dad is an FM doctor in rural AZ
2: I dance the hula
3: I am part-Marshallese and am hoping to serve the Marshallese community through medicine in the future
