Visiting Student Information

Senior students from other LCME accredited (and selected other) medical schools, residents, fellows, and MPH and other graduate students are all welcomed into the elective education programs of the Predoctoral Division.  Most of the courses are integrated into our fourth year curriculum.   Underserved community and international health electives are well known beyond Arizona.

  The Third year required FCM Clerkships in Family Medicine are closed to out-of-state students; this is because we do not have capacity.  However, we have 35 Year IV electives which are open to all LCME students.

  For complete information about senior electives, refer to the University of Arizona College of Medicine Electives Manual.   You should contact the residencies, hospitals and clinics directly to arrange rotation availability.  The site will forward you to the College of Medicine for registration information.  Also, you should contact the instructors directly if you want to take any of the courses offered at the Phoenix or Tucson locations.
  
  For FCM 891Az (preceptorships), please contact  the Community Health Centers in Arizona coordinator, Deborah Welborn 602/253-0090 Ext. 227.  She can help you find a site or experience that will suit your desires.  Since these sites are not associated with the College of Medicine, you do not have to register as a visiting student.  You can register through your own school of medicine.
  
  For the remaining subspecialties (FCM 815's) and seminars (FCM 896's) you need to register with the University of Arizona College of Medicine and have permission from the instructor.  Contact Cathy Flint-Higuera in Student Records, (520/626-6518) for application forms and information.
