Education Programs at FCM
The Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Arizona offers a variety of educational programs. Here are a few examples:
- FCM's Predoctoral Program provides core elements to all medical students, "putting it together" from the generalist's perspective.
- The FCM Clerkship utilizes a community oriented family medicine problem-solving conceptual approach to common clinical problems and prevention. Students may choose from a variety of clinical sites, urban and rural, located throughout the state of Arizona.
- FCM's Family Medicine Residency prepares full-spectrum physicians to provide excellent family-centered, community-responsive care with emphasis on diverse and underserved populations.
- The Faculty Development Fellowship provides an opportunity for educational experiences in teaching to clinicians involved with the instruction of medical students and/or residents. In addition clinicians are provided with an opportunity to conduct a scholarly project.
- The teleconferenced Faculty Development Fellowship Program provides an opportunity for rural preceptors of the students of the Colleges of Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy to participate in a teaching skills program. We have developed a distance-learning program using the Arizona Telemedicine Network to provide faculty development training to these rural family physician teachers.
