Chronic Disease Prevention and Control Track:
The learning activities in the chronic disease prevention and control track are intended to provide the basic preventive medicine competencies and added expertise in population level control of chronic diseases, with an emphasis on cancer. These experiences will provide the resident with experience at the state and county level and with the private, non-profit sector and will prepare them to assume a leadership role in chronic disease control activities.
-Required Rotations
- 8 weeks of Infectious Disease Control and Public Health Preparedness
- 24 weeks of Chronic Disease Control (with an emphasis on cancer)
- 6 weeks of Maternal and Child Health
- 4 weeks of Environmental Health
- 4 weeks of Occupational Medicine
- 4 weeks of vacation
- 2 weeks of electives

- Clinical care (one half-day per week)
