Faculty:
Doug Campos-Outcalt, M.D., M.P.A.: Residency Program Director
Dr. Campos-Outcalt is the Program Director and is responsible for maintaining the program accreditation and overall administration of the residency program. He will organize and teach in the seminars and conduct all program evaluations. Dr. Campos-Outcalt is an active researcher in the fields of prevention, public health and medical education. He has served as the Deputy Director of the ADHS, the Medical Director of the MCDPH, and as a pubic health consultant to the country of Papua New Guinea. He is board certified in preventive medicine/public health and in family medicine and is the Associate Head of the DFCM for the Phoenix Campus.
Bob England, M.D., M.P.H.: Supervising Faculty at MCDPH
Dr. England is the Director of the MCDPH. He will have oversight responsibility for residents as they participate in learning activities at the MCDPH. Dr. England is board certified in GPM/PH and has filled leadership public health positions in state and local health departments in Arizona and Connecticut. He will present noon conferences on a variety of public health topics.
Tim Flood, M.D.: Supervising Faculty at ADHS
Dr. Flood will supervise the learning experiences at the ADHS. He will present noon conferences on state-wide cancer control and cancer epidemiology and surveillance, and other chronic diseases. Dr. Flood is board certified in GPM/PH and is the Medical Director, Bureau of Public Health Statistics at ADHS and has the responsibility for oversight of the Arizona Cancer Registry. For seven years he was the Chief, Office of Chronic Disease Epidemiology, Division of Disease Prevention, in ADHS. He is a member of the steering committee of the comprehensive cancer control cooperative agreement with CDC and a committee member to the Intertribal Council of Arizona epidemiology work group, which oversees disease control activities in Arizona American-Indians.
Scott Leischow, Ph.D.: Supervising Faculty at the Scottsdale Piper Cancer Center
Dr. Leischow will supervise the UAPMR activities at the Scottsdale Piper Center including the cancer prevention clinic and seminars. Dr. Leischow is a nationally and internationally recognized authority in smoking cessation and prevention. He served as the Chief of the Tobacco Control Research Branch of the National Cancer Institute for three years and received the NCI Director’s Gold Star Award. He currently serves as a Senior Advisor for tobacco policy to the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services.
Robert Jones, M.D., M.P.H.: Supervising Faculty for Occupational Health Rotation
Dr. Jones is the Medical Director for Concentra Health System, an Occupational Health corporation in Phoenix. He will supervise the occupational health training for each resident, which will occur at Concentra. He will also present conferences on occupational health.
Anthony Dekker, M.D., M.P.H.: Supervising Faculty at PIMC
Dr. Dekker is the Medial Director in the Division of Primary Care at the PIMC. He will supervise residents as they rotate through the PIMC diabetes clinic and the PIMC Substance abuse clinic. He is an advisor to the program on cross cultural aspects of prevention and will present conferences on substance abuse, diabetes and cross-cultural medicine.
Bill Ellert, M.D: Supervising Faculty at MIHS.
Dr. Ellert is the Chair of the Family Medicine Department at MIHS and is an attending physician at the MCDPH Homeless Clinic. He will supervise the quality assurance training activities at MIHS and supervise the residents when they provide clinical care at the homeless clinic. He will present conferences on an array of administration topics.
Renuka Khurana.: Supervising Faculty in the MCDPH TB and STD Clinics
Dr Khurana is the Medical Director of MCDPH Division of Clinical Services. She will supervise residents in the TB clinic and TB control program as well as in the STD clinic and will present conferences on TB and other infectious diseases.
