Prepare qualified predoctoral and postdoctoral fellows to perform rigorous and innovative research on whole systems of CAM, and to proceed into productive and successful academic careers that will contribute to evaluating the effectiveness, safety, impact, whole person systemic effects, patient-centered and societal mechanisms of widely-used whole systems of CAM.
Consistent with stated goal of NCCAM’s Five-Year Strategic Plan to support whole systems research (WSR). Whole systems of CAM include, but are not limited to: Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurvedic Medicine, Homeopathic Medicine, Naturopathic Medicine, and various Indigenous Healing Systems (http://nccam.nih.gov/health/backgrounds/wholemed.htm). Year one of the grant (2007-2008), five (5) postdoctoral research fellows and one (1) predoctoral fellow will be enrolled in the training program.
Year three of the grant (2009-2010), four (4) open postdoctoral research fellows.
No short-term positions available in year three but we will have three per year 4 and 5 short-term health professions predoctoral students will be added as available and appropriate to participate in one of the core DFCM mentors’ ongoing funded CAM/WSR projects across the five years of the grant.
Predoctoral Trainee Applicants must be established matriculated graduate students at the University of Arizona.
Postdoctoral Trainee Applicants must apply to the Graduate College for admission and enroll as a non-degree student in addition to joining the ACAMRTP.*
Short-Term Health Professions Predoctoral Student Applicants must be accepted or matriculated clinical trainees in an accredited institution’s degree program, leading to a clinical doctorate, including, but not limited to the following: MD, DO, ND, DC, DOM, PsyD, PhD.
